Session Description:
In this session, we will discuss practical approaches for the primary care practitioner for long-term successful management of patients with Type 2 Diabetes.

Session Objectives:

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the current broad conundrum of managing Type 2 Diabetes in the primary care setting
  • Prioritize patient health goals and targets, based on existing literature
  • Understand practical strategies for effectively educating patients in the primary care setting
  • Understand the practical realities of medication effectiveness
  • Utilize basic motivational interviewing skills to successfully enable patient self-care

Technology Requirements:
Participants registering for programs should have access to the following technology for best viewing and participation:

  • Personal computer with Macintosh or Windows with 512 MB of RAM
  • Broadband internet connection such as an office LAN, DSL, or cable modem
