Distance Learning: Current Topics in Breast Imaging (CURE Activity)

 

SOWEGA-AHEC, in partnership with Tift Regional Medical Center and the UGA College of Pharmacy, has developed CE/CME/ACPE opportunities for healthcare professionals. CURE Activities are presented by experienced practitioners who share cutting edge educational content.

Those interested in watching without receiving CE/CME/ACPE, the programs are FREE. Attendees requesting CE/CME/ACPE, must complete an evaluation and pay a nominal fee.

Session Description:
Dr. Peter Taylor discusses current standards in breast imaging using mammograms, ultrasound, and MRIs. He provides information on the upcoming new breast imaging techniques related to tomosynthesis, breast specific gamma imaging, and contrast-enhanced dual energy mammography. He encourages practitioners to always be mindful of the patient who is waiting during the extensive process of being screened, the diagnostic process, the biopsy process, waiting on the pathology results and then the possibility of surgical or oncologic consults. In this presentation, Dr. Taylor discusses how to determine appropriateness in ordering breast imaging exams.

Session Objectives: 
On completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  1. Confirm appropriateness in ordering breast imaging exams.
  2. Review the next generation of breast imaging exams.

About Peter Taylor, DO
Dr. Taylor is a Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologist for Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA. Dr. Taylor graduated from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. He completed his radiology residency at Kaiser Permanente in California and his breast imaging fellowship at UCLA in Los Angeles. He is board certified in Radiology from the American Board of Radiology.
