Dr. Mark Ebell

Session Description:
Provide healthcare and public health professionals with a framework for identifying the best evidence to guide patient care and public health decisions, including practical tips for answering clinical questions.

Speaker Details:
Dr. Mark Ebell is a graduate of Kalamazoo College and the University of Michigan Medical School, where he also trained in Family Medicine. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the College of Public Health, and is also co-director of the Institute for Evidence Based Health Professions Education. Dr. Ebell was formerly Editor-in-chief of the Journal of Family Practice, and is currently Editor-in-Chief of Essential Evidence, Deputy Editor of the journal American Family Physician, and co-editor of the Essentials of Family Medicine textbook.

He is author of over 200 peer-reviewed articles and is author or editor of seven books, with a focus on evidence-based practice, systematic reviews, medical informatics, and clinical decision-making. Dr. Ebell was a Robert Wood Johnson Generalist Physician Faculty Scholar, and has won numerous awards for his research including “Distinguished Paper” twice from the North American Primary Care Research Group. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Washington, the University of Wisconsin, the University of Florida, and the University of Missouri. Most recently, Dr. Ebell was named to the United States Preventive Services Task Force. Dr. Ebell is married to Dr. Laura Bierema, a professor in the College of Education, and they divide their time between Athens, Georgia and Onekama, Michigan.
