Session Description:
Healthcare professionals diagnose Diabetes Mellitus at an alarmingly increasing rate throughout the United States. Participants in this HealthTecdl presentation will learn about the epidemiologic impact of the increased rate of DM diagnoses, learn about the latest pharmacologic treatment options, and best practice therapy goals for patients with DM. Presenter Camille Crawford, Pharm.D., is the Assistant Director of Pharmacy at Houston Medical Center, in Warner Robins, GA.

 

Session Objectives:

  • Participants can describe the epidemiological impact of diabetes mellitus in the U.S.
  • Participants can compare Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes mellitus, their potential complications and respective treatment options.
  • Participants can identify appropriate initial therapy options based on clinical presentation with type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
  • Participants can state ADA recommended goals of therapy for patients with diabetes mellitus.

Continuining Education Information:
1 hour of ACPE credit has been applied for.
1 hour of APA Category 1 CME credit has been applied for.
1 hour of GNA nursing credit has been applied for.
