Session Description:
Ms. Cummings, Chief Information Officer at Northeast Georgia Health System, will provide her insights on careers in HIT and the impact that HIT professionals can have in helping shape the future of healthcare delivery in the United States. She will focus on how healthcare reform is creating an increased demand for technology solutions and resources and the career opportunities this presents for today's students. She will share opportunities for students to use their passion for technology to pursue mission-driven careers in HIT.
Session Objectives:
- To provide an overview of Information Technology in Healthcare
- To share the importance of Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) in the country's healthcare reform efforts
- To discuss new emerging needs for HIT professions in healthcare
- To describe what students can do to position themselves for continuing education jobs in HIT
Technology Requirements:
- Personal computer with Macintosh or Windows with 512 MB of RAM
