Our Impact Areas

Rural Health

Depending on your ZIP code in Georgia, you could either have a wide variety of doctors and hospitals available within driving distance, or you could be located hours away from medical help. You could have easy access to fresh fruits and vegetables, or you could be in a food desert. Geography shouldn’t play such a pivotal role in your health, but that’s the painful reality for Georgians.

Healthcare Georgia Foundation seeks to eliminate these stark health disparities in our state’s rural areas by expanding access to quality healthcare services, improving health outcomes, and helping create new pathways with local coalitions. We understand that community-led solutions are the most effective and sustainable method of solving problems, and we’re a committed partner for increasing access to all of the various components that impact health and well-being.

Maternal Health

Georgia has one of the highest rates of maternal and infant mortality and morbidity in the nation. According to 2018 data from America’s Health Rankings, Georgia’s infant mortality rate increased 17 percent from 6.6 to 7.7 deaths per 1,000 live births, leading to a ranking of 46th in the nation for infant mortality. These numbers are staggering, and we must work together across sectors to improve conditions for mothers and babies to not only survive, but thrive.

Healthcare Georgia Foundation is committed to partnering with and supporting maternal health organizations across the state to improve maternal health and wellbeing. By utilizing our platforms and influence, we seek to uplift the voices of those already engaged in this important work, and to create new environments where groundbreaking solutions can bloom.

Capacity Building

For any organization to achieve its greatest potential and create the most impact, it needs to strengthen its capacity. When everyone on the team is empowered and has access to the resources they need, nonprofits can thrive and improve the lives of the communities they serve.

The Foundation has been invested in nonprofit capacity building efforts since our inception, with previous longstanding programs such as EmpowerHealth dedicated solely to this area of impact.
