Healthcare Georgia Foundation Announces Addition of Two New Board Members

Anita Barkin and Robert S. Wynn were confirmed to the Healthcare Georgia Foundation Board on March 30, 2020 during the Foundation’s quarterly Board meeting

Atlanta, GA – April 8, 2020 – Healthcare Georgia Foundation has announced the addition of Anita Barkin, MSN, DrPH, NP-C and Robert S. Wynn, CFA to its Board effective March 30, 2020.

Barkin formerly served as Acting Deputy Director/District Nursing Director for the North Central Health District, and received the Lillian E. Wald award by the Georgia Public Health Association in 2018 for her contributions to nursing practice. Prior to moving to Georgia, Barkin also served as the Director of Carnegie Mellon University Health Services for over 25 years.

Wynn joins the Foundation Board as the Founder and President of Wynn Capital. Prior to founding Wynn Capital, Rob served clients as a Global Investment Specialist with the J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Atlanta and as a Portfolio Manager at Asset Advisors Corporation in Augusta, Georgia. Wynn also served in the United States Navy as a Submarine Warfare Officer aboard the submarines USS HONOLULU and USS MICHIGAN based in Honolulu, Hawaii and Bremerton, Washington.

Gary Nelson, Ph.D. Foundation President, commented on the addition of these new board members, “Anita Barkin and Robert S. Wynn have long been respected and trusted experts in their fields of service, and Healthcare Georgia Foundation is thrilled to have their wisdom as part of our Board leadership.” Nelson continued, “We look forward to engaging both Wynn and Barkin in furthering our efforts to enable, improve, and advance the health and well-being for all Georgians, and we warmly welcome them to our Foundation.”

Anita Barkin said of her confirmation to the Foundation Board, “Healthcare Georgia Foundation has proven itself to be an innovative and forward-thinking presence in the fight against health inequity. I’m excited to join this Board and to bring my experience to the table as we continue to bring about a vision of health equity for all Georgians.”

Wynn noted of his addition to the Board, saying, “Joining the Foundation’s Board is a wonderful opportunity for me to accelerate my goal in helping Georgians achieve quality access to healthcare, no matter in which zip code they reside. I look forward to providing my expertise in the Foundation’s pursuit of an equitable healthcare landscape in Georgia.”
