Second Quarter Foundation Grants Provide Support for The Two Georgias Initiative and 2021 Direct Services Grant Program
The awards address the Foundation’s priority areas of promoting health and preventing disease, and addressing health disparities
Atlanta, GA – July 9, 2021 – Healthcare Georgia Foundation is pleased to announce a total of twenty-three grant awards distributed across The Two Georgias Initiative, the 2021 Direct Services grant program, and Strategic Health Impact Investment Program.
The Two Georgias Initiative coalitions received their final grants as the five-year, place-based effort focused on addressing health disparities in rural Georgia transitions to its completion. Dr. Gary Nelson, President of Healthcare Georgia Foundation commented, “While this final round of grants may end our investment in The Two Georgias Initiative, it in no way signals a change in our commitment to rural health in Georgia.” He continued, “The work already achieved by these outstanding community coalitions is a triumph, and the Foundation is excited to discover new ways in which we can continue to support rural health in the future.”
The Foundation’s 2021 Direct Services program grantees received awards to support their wide range of projects focused on preventing and managing chronic diseases. This program supports both new and existing programs that address high burden and costly chronic diseases and underlying risk factors that have proven evidence-based interventions, including Asthma; Cardiovascular Disease (Heart Disease and Stroke), and Diabetes. Dr. Nelson noted, “The Foundation is honored to partner with these excellent organizations as they pursue this important work across Georgia! We look forward to the promising results and lasting impact attributed to these organizations.”
