Healthcare Georgia Foundation announces its 1,000th grant award recipient: Georgians for a Healthy Future

Atlanta, GA – December 1, 2019 – Healthcare Georgia Foundation reached a milestone in its 18-year history of charitable grantmaking by awarding its 1,000th grant to Georgians for a Healthy Future.

The Foundation’s grantmaking, committed to enabling, improving, and advancing the health and well-being of all Georgians, now exceeds $73 million statewide.

“This is a significant milestone in our pursuit of greater health equity,” said Gary D. Nelson, Ph.D., Foundation president. “Georgians for a Healthy Future, the recipient of this grant award, epitomizes the Foundation’s historical investment in organizations that speak up for the health needs of Georgians, particularly marginalized populations and underserved communities in our state.”

For the past 11 years, Georgians for a Healthy Future has provided a strong and informed voice for health care consumers and policy makers by informing Georgians about how state and federal health policy changes may affect them. According to Nelson, Georgians for a Healthy Future has been an effective advocate, convener, and partner for Georgia’s health care safety net and for health care providers, patients, and consumers.

A history of grantmaking excellence guided by its board of directors and staff has enabled the Foundation to support more than 1,000 health nonprofit organizations providing access to affordable, quality, integrated health care services and supports for those most in need.

“It is truly an honor to support the critical work of Georgia’s nonprofit health organizations. With each grant to our safety net providers and advocates, we move closer to achieving health equity for all Georgians,” added Nelson.
