Thomas Campbell Smyth, PhD
Thomas J. C. Smyth, Ph.D., is a retired college professor who spent thirty-five years in higher education as a faculty member, researcher and administrator. Tom earned his undergraduate degree in English and Literature at Sewanee: The University of the South, and the Ph.D. in Language and Literacy at the University of South Carolina. Tom has served on the Board of Trustees of various educational institutions including Sewanee and the Episcopal Day School. He also serves in his community as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for foster children and is active in leadership positions at his local Episcopal church. Tom is committed to identifying and acting on ways to care for the underserved populations of our region and the world. Tom has two grown sons and in his spare time he enjoys sailing, tennis, international travel and of course reading.
